Vernonia, Oregon is located on the ancestral and traditional lands of several Native peoples, including the Tualatin (Atfalati) Kalapuya, the Clatskanie, and the Tillamook. The living descendants of these peoples are primarily part of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians.
This place holds deep cultural, ecological, and historical significance. We gather with respect for the land and its original caretakers, and with a responsibility to act in ways that honor life, relationship, and reciprocity.
